In response to the daring Prussian raid on London of 1870, the Kingdom of Britannia has begun a dangerous game of active involvement in the politics of mainland Europe, backing Belgium secessionists, the Coronets. This enrages the French Republique, who supportsthe forces of the Belgium protectorate. As tensions between the former allies escalate, the British impose a blockade of French ports, pushing relations to boiling point.
Meanwhile the British seek new allies, both to bolster their war efforts against the Prussians and to quell French anger at a stroke. They make overtures to the Russian Tsar, inviting his emissary to secret talks at a remote farm in the British countryside.
The Tsar dispatches one of the most feared military leaders 'The Butcher of Minsk' and his bodyguard Irene 'the Bear' Povlenko along with a flotilla of Russian warships to secure the pact. As a gesture of goodwill the Russian delegation brings one of the secrets stolen by Markov from the Covenant of Antarctica, rumoured to be a weapon of immense technological sophistication.
However, espionage is rife, and as other nations learn of this potential alliance they act to protect their own interests and disrupt the talks, take the technology or prevent it from falling into enemy hands. Small elite naval strike forces are assembled and enter the waters of the Channel.
Operation Nordwest
The Prussians plan is even more ambitious. Emboldened by their successful raid on London, the Prussian high command dispatch two specially modified Sturmbringer submarines to slip past British coastal defences and land a small, elite, Prussian strike force including a mighty Waltze tank near the farm where the talks are due to take place.
They plan to swiftly overpower British forces stationed in the area, kidnap the Russian emissaries and take the technology for themselves, shattering the potential alliance before it can be established.
The Prussian strike force is led by the fearsome Colonel Hahl, and his crack Grenadiers, Meanwhile the security of the peace talks has been entrusted to the experienced Colonel MacDonald and his stout Blackwatch.
OBJECTIVES & VICTORY
Victory is determined through a mix of capturing objectives and eliminating enemy sections.
Victory is determined by the first side to achieve 31 Battle Log points. If both sides achieve this total, the winner is the side who achieves the most. In the event this occurs too early in the day, the game may continue until both sides are satisfied, with the winner the side who achieves the greatest number of Battle Log points.
Points are scored in the End Phase as follows:
• Holding the Major Objective 1D6
• Holding a Minor Objective 2
• Each Section routed in the End Phase 1
• Each Section wiped out with 0-150 points 1
• Each Section wiped out with 151-250 points 2
• Each Section wiped out with 251-350 points 3
• Each Section wiped out with 351+ points 4
